Position Summary:
The Data Engineer - Snowflake will design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines while leveraging Snowflake's data cloud platform. This role involves working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, optimize performance, and support the organization’s data-driven initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Pipeline Development:
Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data into Snowflake from various data sources. - Snowflake Implementation:
Implement and optimize Snowflake solutions, including data warehouse design, data modeling, and performance tuning. - Data Integration:
Integrate Snowflake with other cloud platforms, third-party tools, and on-premises systems. - Performance Optimization:
Monitor and optimize Snowflake queries, warehouse utilization, and data load performance to ensure high efficiency. - Data Quality and Governance:
Implement data validation checks, monitor data quality, and ensure compliance with governance standards. - Collaboration:
Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide scalable solutions. - Documentation:
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, workflows, and Snowflake configurations. - Security:
Implement role-based access control, data encryption, and other security measures within Snowflake. - Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with Snowflake’s latest features and industry best practices to improve existing processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in Snowflake, including schema design, SnowSQL, and performance optimization.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Apache Airflow, Talend, Matillion, or similar.
- Strong SQL skills for data transformation and analysis.
- Experience with programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala for data engineering tasks.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and related services.
- Data Architecture:
- Knowledge of data warehouse design principles and data modeling techniques.
- Understanding of modern data stack concepts, such as data lakes and real-time data streaming.
- Tools and Technologies:
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Snowflake, AWS Glue, Azure ADF and Informatica.
- Understanding of version control systems like Git.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
- Snowflake certification (e.g., SnowPro Core Certification).
- Experience with data streaming tools like Kafka or Spark.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform sedentary work; either remote or in office (role is hybrid)
- Minimal travel (1-2x per year)
